Editorial & Generator Standards

We want generator pages to be useful tools, not mass-produced keyword pages. These are the standards we use when researching, building and reviewing new generators.

1. The Generator Must Match the Search Intent

A page should have a clear reason to exist. The dataset, page title, wheel output and article should all serve the same naming intent. We avoid creating near-identical pages simply to target tiny wording variations.

2. Datasets Should Be Relevant and Clean

Before publication, a generator dataset should be checked for obvious duplicates, broken entries and names that do not fit the topic. The source pool should be large enough to produce useful variation without padding it with unrelated results.

3. Factual and Cultural Generators Need Better Sourcing

Real-name, language, historical, geographical and culturally specific generators deserve more care than purely fictional generators. Where appropriate, we prefer authoritative or primary references such as government datasets, academic resources, dictionaries, language institutions, historical references or other clearly attributable sources.

Sources can be displayed on individual generator pages when they materially support the dataset or factual claims.

4. Content Should Explain the Tool

Supporting content should help a visitor understand what the generator does, how to use it, what the names represent, and any important limitations or context. We do not set an artificial word-count target for every page.

5. Fandom and Trademark References Require Care

Generators inspired by games, films, books, franchises or other third-party properties should not imply official affiliation. Generated names should be original outputs or general naming ideas rather than a copied list of protected characters, products or branded content.

6. We Correct Material Problems

Names, language use and source data can be nuanced. If a generator contains a meaningful factual, cultural, technical or sourcing problem, we want to know about it. Corrections can be sent through the Contact page.

Our standard for publishing

A generator should add a useful experience: relevant names, a working wheel, clear context and honest limitations. If a page does not meet that standard, it should be improved before publication.
